Best Practice in Vitrification 2021

echipa embriologie

Most performant vitrification program and the recognition of our contribution în assisted reproduction

We are honoured to receive the recognition of our achievements from Kitazato,  the developer of the most performant method of vitrification of blastocysts and oocytes.

The cryopreservation program  of blastocysts by vitrification technique has been successfully introduced in Gynera in 2007, being one of the first worldwide and the first one in Romania. The first baby from vitrified blastocyst and the first vitrifications of oocytes are also achievements of Gynera team.

The innovation has been followed by developing the method. We have now one of the most performant vitrification programs worldwide, based on the method developed by Kitazato in Japan.

Vitrification is a rapid freezing method. After replacing the cellular water in the blastocyst with cryoprotectant media, the embryo is placed into a straw and rapidly freeze up to  – 196°C. The straws are stored in liquid nitrogen and continuously monitored to keep optimal temperature.

In Gynera Clinic, over 95% of the blastocysts resume their development after cryopreservation and thawing. Implantation rates are also exceptional, over 50% of them implant and determine clinical pregnancies.

Cryopreservation of oocytes developed rapidly after introduction of vitrification method, oocytes having a better survival rate after vitrification compared with conventional slow freezing.

Vitrification of oocytes is successfully utilised  for fertility preservation at women willing to preserve their oocytes and in oocyte donation programs.

We are proud of our exceptional results with freezing of blastocysts and oocytes and proud of being recognised by the developers of vitrification technology.

Buț no technique, no matter how performant would be îs enough without the skills, manuality and experience of the embryologist.

Congratulations for our embryology team for their remarkable results!
